Today is my Blog Birthday! I've really enjoyed this strange crafty/cyber world that's endlessly inspiring and seems to be populated by the most talented, friendly, inclusive people...not to mention the people who drop by to say hello or leave a comment. Thank you Lyn from Molly Chicken and JuJu Loves Ploka Dots for the first two comments. I still remember how excited I was to read them. Thanks also to Loobylu...her amazing blog gets more interesting every time I see it...and the lovely and stylish Red Felt Flower, too - another inspiration. Blog on.

Cute As.
For the last couple of years I've made a point of going to the Buttonmania button sale. Popping in once is not enough...I start thinking about all the buttons I missed...so I made another quick dash in and scooped up some more. So I've been making some rings - okay - I've gone mad and made about 30 rings! Will post pics soon. The shop is in the wonderful Nicholas Building - a kind of architectural Norma Desmond - faded but still glorious.
Hope you all have a wonderful weekend.

Weekend away was so much fun. Taking the long, long way back we came across this huge Farmer's Market in Talbot. Everything looked so wonderful: apples, honey, bread, second-hand goodies. Also came across a small haberdashery shop run by this lovely, but clearly eccentric old lady. Fabric up to the beams, literally thousands of jars full of buttons - found the best vintage trim...pics soon. Here are some random shots of the weekend...

Sunday in the City
Nothing like a good Yum Cha on a wintry Sunday afternoon. Met up with friends and scoffed way too many delightful morsels with the a view of the Yarra and the weak sun bathing the table. Isn't the jelly amazing?
After lunch went to the Ian Potter to see the Deborah Halpern and Paris End exhibitions - both well worth seeing. I love Melbourne in winter...so grey, stormy and atmospheric.
Saw French film Hidden...still not sure what to make of it...but liked it. Couldn't come home without a book on robots! Enjoyed taking some random snaps, including part of a work by Mirka Mora. Hope everyone had a fab weekend.

I can't help myself. As soon as the temperature starts to drop, I make soup. I don't usually use a recipe, just start off with a big pot and keep adding. Sunday afternoon was so sunny and freezing, the perfect day for my version of Minestrone...and I can't stress how much flavour the alphabet adds - especially the b's. The rest of the day was spent crafting. Finally got around to making a Mini Moopy and the little dog pattern came from the talented All Sorts.

Birds Now Bees Later
I found a fantastic old bookshop in New Zealand in the small coastal town of Oamaru called Slightly Foxed. I couldn't resist these bird books.
By the way, thanks for your lovely comments on the brooches! I can't wait to try a MiniMoopy this weekend. Thanks Moopy and Me.
